Basic Firearms Safety : 

Basic Firearms Safety Treat all firearms as loaded. Keep the muzzle of the firearm pointed in a "safe" direction. Keep your finger off the trigger gun until you're prepared to shoot. Know your target and what is behind it

Basic Firearms Safety : 

Basic Firearms Safety Keep the firearm unloaded until you are ready to shoot. Always check to see if the firearm is loaded when it has been out of your possession. Maintain Control of your Firearm at all times Where is it pointed?!

LAR&R Junior Safety Rules : 

LAR&R Junior Safety Rules Keep actions open at all times except when shooting (Bolt Open). Head on the stock before putting the bolt handle down. Bolt handle is up before taking your head off the stock. Head down – Bolt Down Bolt Up – Head up

LAR&R Junior Safety Rules : 

LAR&R Junior Safety Rules Insert yellow safety flag in chamber of rifle when you leave the rifle. Stay behind the firing line during cease-fire except when changing targets. Wear eye and ear protection while firing is on going and/or Red Live-Fire Light is on.

Eye and Hearing Protection : 

Eye and Hearing Protection Safety Glasses (“eyes”) must be worn during shooting Anytime the Red Live-Fire light is on. Ear Protection (“ears”) must be worn during shooting.

How to Insert Ear Plugs : 

How to Insert Ear Plugs Remove from package. There will be 2 plugs Take one plug and roll between your fingers until it is made smaller. Reach over your head and pull up on the ear Insert the smallest end into the ear canal as far as you easily can. Let go, the plug will expand to fit your ear. REPEAT with the other ear plug.

Sighting the Rifle : 

Sighting the Rifle Press butt of the rifle firmly to your shoulder Place your cheek bone or jawbone tight against the stock Look through the rear sight Focus on the inner circle of the front sight See the bulls eye surrounded by an equal amount of daylight. Be sure that you are looking at your assigned target.

Loading : 

Loading Take the cartridge by the end between thumb and forefinger of the trigger finger hand. Insert the tip of the bullet into the chamber and push the cartridge part way in with the thumb. Push the bolt handle forward and down. Keep the trigger finger off the trigger.

Firing : 

Firing After loading, check to be sure: 1) You are aimed at the correct target. 2) You can see an equal amount of daylight around the bulls-eye. Hold your breath Squeeze the trigger until the firearm fires and hold the trigger back for the count of three Unload by lifting the bolt handle and moving it quickly to the rear

Stoppages : 

Stoppages Rifle Loaded: Doesn’t fire = Check Safety is off – pushed forward with red dot showing. Rifle Loaded: You hear a Click and no Bang = Raise firing hand to call Range Officer. This is probably a miss-fire (poor Primer) or you failed to load a cartridge. Rifle Loaded: Pop, No Bang = Raise firing hand to call Range Officer! This is a possible “Squib Load” where there is no powder but the primer discharge has pushed the bullet into but not out of the barrel. DO NOT RELOAD!

At the Firing Line : 

At the Firing Line Follow All Directions from Range Officer!! Insert Ear Plugs Move to Assigned Firing Position When instructed, lie down behind rifle Put on Safety Glasses Place rifle in your right shoulder Remove the Yellow Safety Flag

At the Firing Line : 

At the Firing Line Follow All Directions from Range Officer!! Place your HEAD on the stock PRACTICE firing FIRST!! Close the bolt Look through rear sight and see your target Squeeze trigger (and hold, 1, 2, 3!) Open bolt

At the Firing Line : 

At the Firing Line Follow All Directions from Range Officer!! When instructed, load one round into the chamber Close the bolt Look through rear sight and see your target Squeeze trigger (and hold, 1, 2, 3!) Open bolt to unload the rifle

After Cease Fire : 

After Cease Fire Follow All Directions from Range Officer!! When instructed insert yellow Safety Flag All shooters are finished Relay time is over Place Safety Glasses next to your rifle Stand up behind mats Targets will be given to you outside of the range area Remember your Target Number!
