focusing on school accountability for its teaching practices…
Smaller Challenge :Smaller Challenge To make fundamental shifts in the way school education is delivered.
And the shifts were… :And the shifts were… 1st shift: From Rote Learning to Competency building
2nd shift: from assessing students to assessing schools
3rd shift: Monitoring by external standards to involving teachers in the process itself-building responsibility and ownership!!!
4th shift: From Fear of attending schools to the Desire for attending classes regularly!!!
The Result :The Result In 2003, 896 schools (50% of the participating schools) chose to be evaluated and 40 won
In 2004, 1440 schools were evaluated, out of which 82 schools won the Learning Guarantee Program Award for 2004
Over 10000 teachers personally experimented with using child friendly, non text book based oral and written assessment.
