Premium member Presentation Transcript LONDON CHOIR SCHOOL : LONDON CHOIR SCHOOL 1915 - 1958 Contents : Contents London Choir School General photographs Savoy Chapel Choristers General photographs USA and Canada Tours Savoy Chapel Choristers The English Boy Choristers of the London Choir School LONDON CHOIR SCHOOL : LONDON CHOIR SCHOOL Slide 4: Founded by Carlton Borrows, who was assistant organist at the Savoy Chapel in London. The London choir school was both day and residential, its raison d'être was to supply the London churches with choristers. The school averaged 125 pupils with over 100 London churches on their books. The first premises in Dog Kennel Road Slide 5: Choristers were supplied to churches either on permanent contract or as and when required. Many churches, such as the Savoy Chapel and St Peter’s Eaton Square, were supplied entirely by the London Choir School. St Peter’s Eaton Square, 1955 Slide 6: The choristers of the London Choir School made frequent visits to the various film studios around London to record sound tracks. You are listening to the choristers singing their role as the Saintbury School Chapel Choir in the famous film, ‘The Guinea Pig,’ starring Richard Attenborough. Choir practices took place daily at the School and the choristers travelled to the Savoy Chapel for full practices and services. To be a Savoy chorister was the ultimate accolade.
