BACKGROUNDSpell Goes to College Preparation: Spell Goes to College Preparation One suggestion is to provide aid based on need since students will have different financial needs based on the college enrollment and associated living costs. This approach provides aid based on a percentage value of total costs and can be scaled across different types of schools. However, this also means that some students will receive more aid than others in terms of absolute value, and directly effects the total amount available for other students. Another suggestion is to provide aid at a flat rate, where each and every qualifying student receives the same amount. This allows SPELL to easily select students based on a set of criteria that is uniform for everyone. Not one student ’ s costs will effect another in terms of projected aid. However, the total value of the aid may not be enough to adjust for actual costs. ANALYSISCase Study Questions: Case Study Questions Provide an example either in English Immersion or SPELL Goes to College that is similar to your program? Any lesson learnt from your project that can be applied to either English Immersion or SPELL Goes to College? How can English Immersion and/or SPELL Goes to College be made more sustainable?
