September 11 th , 2001 By: Melissa Nelson & Ashlei Shelton-Hayes

Slide 2:

On the morning of September 11 th , 2001 America experienced one of the greatest tragedies in its history. Americas had fallen victim to a terrorist attack and more then three thousand people ended up losing their lives that morning. Two planes had hit each one of the Twin Towers in New York City, one plane hit the Pentagon, and the last plane went down in a Pennsylvania field.

A Pennsylvania Field :

A Pennsylvania Field United Flight 93 was overthrown by its passengers and ended up in a Pennsylvania field; it never made it to its destination. There were no survivors and the plane incinerated on impact.

*The Facts* 2,819 death certificates were given out Of the deaths 77% were male 23% female Only 58% were forensically identified 115 different countries lost someone The youngest passenger was Christine Hanson she was 2 and the oldest was Robert Norton he was 82 Over 3,000 children were left with only one or no parents at all The fires didn’t stop burning till Dec 17 th , 99 days after the initial attack There were no survivors from any of the flights # of bodies “intact”: 289 # of body parts found: 19,858 36,000 units donated to the New York Blood Center % of Americans that knew someone the passed away: 20%

Almost 10 years after the initial attacks on 9/11 the master mind behind it all was brought to justice. Osama Bin Laden was killed on April 29 th , 2011 by a Navy Seal team in Pakistan. He was living with his three wives and his children in a compound . Public Enemy #1 is No Longer

The Statue of Liberty was standing so proud As God and Freedom were singing out loud The Native New Yorkers were beginning to enter The Twin Towers called The World Trade Center They went to their jobs and they worked with pride On this day when a part of America died The people of Boston were also at work For responsibilities they never would shirk The traffic was brutal as it is every morn But each day they brave it for the show must go on Now Downtown was open Logan Airport was too As people boarded their flights they did not have a clue The Terrorists were sitting right there by their side On this day when a part of America died [ . We showed our courage, our strength and our pride On this day when a part of America died red]Now at 8:46 , the whole world was in shock For there was an explosion that shook the whole block And downtown Manhattan was like a war zone For these Terrorists attacked us right in our own home As the planes hit The Towers there was a terrible fire The people were screaming as the flames grew higher But through this disaster they still showed their pride On this day when a part of America died [red]For The Police and Firemen did not think of themselves [red]Not one person said, "It's every man for himself." For to those trapped inside each man was a brother On their wounded shoulders they carried each other Although September Eleventh brought death and dismay We all banded together in The U.S. of A
