Ian 1st grade Teacher Comments4th Grade Teachers: Teacher Comments 4th Grade Teachers The Kemp's Sea Turtle Unit for the 4th grade has been extremely productive. The students have enjoyed working together with their teacher, their librarian and their CIT. Through this collaboration, the students received better research process skills and support. The librarian and CIT have been extremely supportive of us, and your organization has made the whole project more effective and clarified the Big6 process for us as classroom teachers. We appreciate you both so much. Together we have made a difference in our fourth graders and their understanding of the plight of the Kemp's Ridley sea turtles. Teacher Comments: Teacher Comments Thanks so much for all your help! This has been a great experience! I was dreading research (I’ve done it before, but I had to do ALL the work), but you made it so easy. My students were all successful due to the extra support, and I’m looking forward to our next unit. 5th grade teacherSlide47: Cynthia Luna 2004 National Distinguished Principal Cindy Luna 2004 National Distinguished Principal Today, teachers are held accountable for more instructional demands than ever before. In a time when instructional needs exceed the hours in the school day, teachers need to rely on integrated instruction. The Big 6 Model allows teachers to collaborate and integrate curriculum instruction. The classroom teacher serves as the content specialist. The librarian facilitates the research and proper sources, and the computer specialist helps students demonstrate their learning through technology projects such as webpages, brochures, videos, maps, etc…Working together the librarian, classroom teacher, and computer specialist integrate the learning of numerous skills and content during a compact learning time frame. Integration of content produces a “win-win” situation for the librarian, computer specialist, classroom teacher and, most importantly, for the students!
