In 1912 Paul L. Seplata traveled from the Czech Republic to Ellis Island with one brother (Loiuse) and two sisters (Emelie & Bissie). Paul left one brother (Adolf) and one sister (Mary) behind in Prague. Over the course of the next few years the other two siblings would also travel to the United States to settle. In the transformation process the sir name of Seplata changed to the name we now know as Soplata. Paul Sr. and his family settled in St.Paul, Minnesota, where they were part of the Czech community. The Soplata Children attended De La Sal. While attending De La Sal, Paul met Elizabeth Litovski, they soon married and began a life together. Elizabeth gave birth to two children Paul and Evelyn. Paul and Lorraine were married on June, 08, 1941. The two courted long distance for some time. Often Paul would travel from his hometown of St.Paul to were Lorraine lived. Many times the only means of transportation to get there was to hitch a ride. Never the less the two finally announced their love for each other and shortly after began their family. Home Next Back Pauline Meyer Pauline is the oldest of five children. Born on December 22, 1941 to the sign of Sagittarius. She married at the age of 18 to Gene Schintz. Soon after she moved to California and began a life of hard work by raising three children; Sandy, Michael, and Dawn. She worked for the power company for over twenty years while supporting her family. During that time she remarried to Victor Meyer to whom she was married for 23 years until he died during the night of a heart attack. She and her children currently reside in Lodi, California. Home Next Back Ronald Soplata Ronald is the only boy and born the second of five children. Born June 19, 1944 during the midst of world war II. He married Victoria Herbert at the age of 27. Ron soon embarked on fatherhood with two children; Shawn and Rebecca, as a single father. Working as a foreman in construction and remaining active in his children’s life was no easy task, but Ron managed. He is now a grandfather to 3 and currently residing in CoonRapids, Minnesota. Home Next Back Rosemary Shields Rosemary was born the middle child on June 6, 1946. She married very young at the age of 18, but the marriage didn’t last long. So, she joined the Navy as a Nurse, but the military life wasn’t for Rosemary. She married again on September 1, 1968 and soon gave birth to two beautiful children; Samantha and Jeff. She currently enjoys landscaping and continues working as a nurse. She is the grandmother of two children and currently resides in St. Paul, Minnesota. Rosemary’s Family Tree

Home Next Back Patricia Brooks Patricia was born December 15, 1948. At the age of 16 she began the battle with Hodgkin’s disease for over the next two years. Over the course of this journey she married young to Scott Paynter and gave birth to twins; Ian and Evan. Shortly after birth Evan passed into heaven from SIDS and her marriage to Scott was over. Years later she remarried to Eugene Brooks on March 17, 1969. She is currently the grandmother to one grandchild and resides in St. Paul, Minnesota. Patricia’s Family Tree

Home Next Back Michelle Soplata Michelle is the youngest of five children born March 3, 1952. Michelle moved to sunny California at the age of 13 with her older sister Pauline. At the age of 18 she married Doug Ives and soon gave birth to three boys; Richard, and twins Scott and Eric. Michelle enjoys aerobics and running, so much that she teaches fitness for a living. She is currently the grandmother of one and resides in Modesto, California. Michelle’s Family Tree

A letter to Paul~ Dearest Paul, Please forgive me for chiseling. It won’t ever happen again. I have (1) consolation though because you did too. Please don’t forget some of the happiest times we have spent together. I hope that in two or three years we can look back at this birch bark together. I have several other memories too. MY FRIEND.
