(From Psalm 71:1-6) Come into this sacred space to worship God. O Lord, in you I trust; never let me be shamed. In your way of putting things right, Snatch me up and bring me to safety; Turn your ear towards me, and save me. Come into this sacred space to worship God. Be to me a rock for dwelling in, A secure place for retreating to, time and time again; A rock for my restoration, as you have appointed; For you are my rock and my stronghold. O Lord, rescue me from the hand of the wicked, and the hands of the unjust and the ruthless. Come into this sacred space to worship God. Indeed, you are my hope, O Lord, my trust since my early years. I have relied on you from the womb; From my birth you have sustained me. In you is my praise again, and again, and again. For use in worship, with acknowledgement © Jeff Shrowder 2000. You created the heavens and earth, and the sound of your voice shakes all things. You put your words in the mouths of the prophets To destroy wickedness and overthrow the ruthless, and to build justice and righteousness. Your child Jesus Christ, came among us with words of freedom, hope and healing which so scandalised the powerful that they crucified him, but you raised him to new life and appointed him as the mediator of a new covenant. Before we were formed in the womb, you knew us and now you are bringing us into your holy city with the angels and saints and the faithful of every age to rejoice together at the wonderful things you are doing. Therefore, with our hearts lifted high, we offer you thanks and praise at all times through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Blue Care Sunday: Blue Care Sunday PRAYER OF CONFESSION We confess to you, Lord, what we are: we are not the people we like others to think we are: we are afraid to admit even to ourselves what lies in the depths of our souls But we do not want to hide our true selves from you. We believe that you know us as we are, and yet you love us, Help us not to shrink from our self knowledge; teach us to respect ourselves for your sake; give us courage to put our trust in your guiding and power. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. We also confess to you, Lord the unrest of the world, to which we contribute and in which we share. Forgive our reliance on weapons of terror, our cold indifference to the needs of others, our discrimination against people of different race, our preoccupation with material standards. Forgive our being unsure of the good news about you and from you, and so unready to tell it, share it, and live it. Christ have mercy. Christ have mercy. Raise us out of the paralysis of guilt into the freedom and energy of forgiven people. And for those who through long habit find forgiveness hard to accept, we ask you to break their bondage and set them free. Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy. Amen. From Be Our Freedom Lord. Prepared and Edited by Terry C. Falls. Blue Care Sunday: Blue Care Sunday DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS.
