Surfing requires leg strength. Running on the treadmill or incorporating a morning jog in the weeks prior will build up those leg and calf muscles. You can also take up a substantial sand run challenge. Try running some laps on the beach. The resistance in the sand will really give your legs the workout you’ll need for surfing. Building up your paddling endurance is not a choice its a must. The best way to do that is to go out and surf on a daily basis. If that is not an option working on your upper arm strength with weights will also do. Or just go to your local pool regularly and swim for some time. It works on everyone and for everything your balance your core your flexibility your strength your stamina and not to forget your mental mind. Whether you workout or not incorporate cardio into your routine. Sign up for a surfer’s fitness class or go for cycling skipping and other cardio exercises. The cardio is to help in all over strengthening and respiratory endurance. This will enable you to ride the waves for longer periods without gasping for air. There are some home-bound board exercises that will prep your body perfectly for the upcoming surf trip. You can watch videos on the internet or take classes. You can practise surf strengthening exercises like balance board push-ups work on balance core and leg strength with balance board squats. You can also work on your surfing techniques. So its very necessary that we are prepared for it. Start eating a lot and bulk up a bit so that you dont lose the calories you need to withstand the mighty waves.
