Definition of the potential dangers of the social contacts of students on the Internet.:

Definition of the potential dangers of the social contacts of students on the Internet. Pointing out of personal data which don’t guarantee their protection. Giving more personal data than it is required Making contacts with people of false e-personality Reading information that is not appropriate for students Hackers hack in foreign systems purely E-mail : -Preserved from bad e-mails from supposedly friendly people -Persons dial in through themselves unauthorized and under other name in websites

Slide5:

Loss of personal communication between students and real life Lack of control on the type of information, provided for general use in Internet that is available for students Chatrooms : - Danger to the seduction by perverted people - Danger that the people send viruses

Suggestions to avoid them :

Suggestions to avoid them Creating of a unite convention concerning the minimum of private data and its type, that is required when students register in different sites. The convention should be announced in Internet. It will set the rules for E-privacy protection! Representing the convention in front the corresponding institutions aiming to legalize its general validity. Sending the administrators and moderators of e-sites recommendations concerning the forms applying for registration in a way that shows which of the information is not obligatory and how to guarantee its privacy in the net.

Slide7:

Creating an e-page explaining to the students the rules of making e-contacts and the following risks. The e-page should be sent to the administrators and moderators of the great e-portals and forums in terms of publishing. Creating of software mechanisms which do not allow the creation of fake e-identity. In this concern, a recommendation should be created and sent to the administrators and moderators of the most popular portals, forums and searching machines. Creating of software filters classifying information and documentation explaining their usage to the parents. Creating of a catalogue, which classifies the information, that is not appropriate for reading by students. This catalogue should be structured according to the age of the students and the type of information.

Slide8:

Open e-mails with Spam only if the contents are mainly known Do not click on links which come from foreign people Finding mechanisms stimulating the students not only to communicate by Internet but also in the real life. This can be accomplished by doubling of the applications, except for the Internet also for the real life. Creating an e-page which explains to the parents the dangers to which their children are subjected in Internet and the ways to control their children’s access, e.g. by using software filters and programs for synchronic communication which have history of the students’ implemented communication sessions.

Slide9:

Use good anti-virus-programs Do not accept data from foreign people Do not answer to mysterious requests Never give your log in data away Trust only to people who you really know

How to protect students’ personal data when they register as users :

How to protect students’ personal data when they register as users Only the necessary registration data is required Within the e-system the user is not allowed to see the personal data of other users Several levels of protection are used, e.g. authorization and authentication Access of non authorized persons is forbidden Particulars can be changed only by the user Permission inquiry if particulars liked to be used for advertising purposes or similar

Division of the tasks of the project and of the groups which will be working on it. :

Division of the tasks of the project and of the groups which will be working on it. The Bulgarian and German students have worked out together on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th and 10th points of the project plan The Bulgarian students have worked out the 5th and the 9th points The German students have worked out the 8th point and the comparison table The 11th point (the evaluation and analysis) has been made by a teacher

Why has “Moodle” been chosen for the creation of profiles?:

Why has 'Moodle' been chosen for the creation of profiles? Moodle is chosen to create profiles because it is an international project aiming at education, social communication and the forming of virtual societies.

How is this done in other sites (comparative analysis)? :

How is this done in other sites (comparative analysis)? All the other sites, such as yahoo.com; abv.bg; prosveta.eu; gmail.com, etc. require a lot of unnecessary registration data. The hidden regime: https:// (with exchange of cipher certificates) is not included everywhere. Moodle has this regime and describes how the registration to be made. There are filters which classify the information given by the members of the virtual society. In all the websites built under Moodle, tools are supplied for parents to control the registration process of their children and their activity within the e-system.

Slide14:

Discussion in the team of the problems related to security:

Discussion in the team of the problems related to security Pointing out of personal data which don’t guarantee their protection. Giving more personal data than it is required Having contacts with people of false e-personality Reading information that is not appropriate for the students’ age Loss of personal communication between students and real life

Slide16:

Lack of control on the type of information, provided for general use in Internet that is available for students Anti-virus-programs slow down the computer Pop up are blocked (evil and good) Frequent updates for Anti-virus-programs (advantage: constant protection against new threats) Websites must be encrypted to protect user

Do the sites for social contacts give instruction regarding the security? :

Do the sites for social contacts give instruction regarding the security? There are no special instructions to protect the user If you search for that (for example at google) you'll find some advices

What does it mean to be a member of a virtual society and how to communicate within “Moodle” as a place where virtual society is formed based on social constructive relations :

What does it mean to be a member of a virtual society and how to communicate within 'Moodle' as a place where virtual society is formed based on social constructive relations Member of the virtual society is the one who takes part in electronic informational and communicational systems, by communicating with the rest of the members of the group and sharing e-resources aiming ideas exchange. The members of the virtual society communicate and take part in discussions that take part in their forums. They learn how to think critically and to defend their own ideas. The Moodle project and the perspectives for its development are based on an interesting philosophy which can be called in short 'social constructive pedagogy'

Slide19:

Constructivism - this term means that people develop new knowledge while taking active part in the surrounding world Constructivism. The meaning of the term is laid in the concept that the learning process is more effective when the learner creates something through which to share his experience with the others. The learner creates verbal messages, Internet messages and more complicated artifacts such as piece of art, building or set of program equipment The social constructivism concerns the concepts of social groups mentioned above, whose members create small cultural group of artifacts having general application. When someone participates in this mini-society he/she is influenced by the constant process of education on different levels and turns into a part of this mini-society.

Definition of the family’s and school’s responsibilities regarding the students’ awareness of the potential dangers and the measures that need to be taken in order to assure safe communication on the Internet:

Definition of the family’s and school’s responsibilities regarding the students’ awareness of the potential dangers and the measures that need to be taken in order to assure safe communication on the Internet The family has to watch their children’s activity in the Internet. The parents should watch the history of their children’s chat sessions and to use filters to classify the sites their children use School’s duties are to warn their students of danger and to report students’ precedents in the area of communication in Internet. The school should clarify the ways parents can protect their children Can lead to unintentional fame, for example, at Youtube There are not only nice, good people in the Internet School should clear up maybe also in the informatics lessons about that

Evaluation and analysis :

Evaluation and analysis The realization of this project would support the e-privacy protection in the Internet, as well as the creation of the necessary legal measures protecting students from harmful information. It would be explained to the parents what are the dangers in the Internet and how to protect their children from them. The administrators will get an idea about the measures which they have to take in order to protect children from access to inappropriate information and harmful contacts.
