TDoA: TDoA Nutrition Transportation In-home services Senior centers Information and assistance Long-term care ombudsman Legal assistance and benefits counseling Case management Home repair/modification Volunteer opportunities The Texas Department on Aging is the only state agency whose sole duty is serving older Texans. Through affiliated area agencies on aging (AAAs), the department provides a wide array of services (according to local needs and resources) to any Texan 60 or older. Just a few of these include: Organizational Structure: Organizational Structure A statewide network solely dedicated to improving the quality of life for senior Texans. TDoA: TDoA Policy Development Uniquely qualified to provide information that society needs to make decisions in areas relating to aging and older persons. Identify and execute programs and policies that address challenges of senior adults. Fiscal Responsibility Insure effectiveness of all national, state and local funds allocated for senior programs through local AAAs’ offices. Help area offices plan, monitor, and do assessments and performance reviews Ombudsman - Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Program has advocacy responsibility for quality of life and care for residents in long term care facilities. They are specially trained and certified individuals who identify, investigate and resolve complaints made by or on behalf of residents. Public Information/Marketing Coordinates and distributes public information, legislative issues and research data that involve senior issues. They develop awareness campaigns of services available to seniors through TDoA. Initiate partnership relationships with the corporate and faith-based communities. Goal: Goal Develop strategic partnerships between TDoA and key advocacy groups and stakeholders to improve the quality of life for senior adults and their families.
