Automatic Sash Closer for Chemical Fume Hoods :

Automatic Sash Closer for Chemical Fume Hoods

Why use an Automatic Sash Closer?:

Safety: When operators are not present any materials left in the fume hood will be enclosed Energy efficiency: Chemical fume hoods use roughly the same amount of energy as a small home. Leaving a sash open when not in use is similar to leaving windows open in a home. By closing the sash door while not in use, energy consumption will decrease by up to 65%. Cost Savings- Our systems are cost effective and offer a typical payback period of 12 to 18 Months. Why use Green Exhaust Systems: We offer preferred pricing on the very best equipment, customized instillation and service, and second to none follow up. Why use an Automatic Sash Closer?

The Components:

Motor Clutch Assembly: When the operator stands in front of the fume hood the personnel detector will recognize their presence and reset the controls so that the drive is disconnected via the clutch mechanism. The operator can then operate the sash manually in the normal manner. When the operator leaves the fume hood the personnel detector recognizes this and will initiate a pre-set rundown time (adjustable on site). When this time delay is satisfied the sash will drive to the closed position only if the sensors detect that there is no objects present. If any objects are present or enter the safety light curtain field then the drive will disconnect and the sash will stop. It will also stop if it detects that the operator has returned. As an additional safety feature the controls know the time in which it takes for the sash to drive to the closed position. If for any reason the sash does not closed within this time period the drive mechanism will disengage and activate the alarm. The unit will remain disengaged until the problem has been resolved and the pushbutton has been pressed to reset the system. During this time the sash can be operated manually. The Components

The Components:

Alarm Panel: Red LED/Pushbutton- Will give a visual indication of an obstruction/fault and is also used to reset the system once the fault has been cleared. There are two fault conditions : Sash Closing Time - The control system monitors the time the sash takes to close, if not closed within the preset time the fault indicator will illuminate and the sash drive will be disabled. Once the fault has been checked and cleared by pressing the reset pushbutton and the system returns to normal operation. Sash Obstruction - The control system has a safety light curtain sensor that can detect if the sash opening is clear of any obstructions before the drive operates. If an obstruction is detected the fault light will illuminate and the drive will be disabled. Once the obstruction has been cleared the operator simply presses the reset pushbutton and the system returns to normal operation . Light Curtain Transmitter and Receiver: The sash control system utilizes a safety light curtain comprised of an Infra Red transmitter and receiver on opposite sides of the inner fume hood chamber. They sit approx. 28” high and can detect very small objects including glass. The Components
