Slide1 : Inspection-plusplus.org Interoperability Roadmap

Slide2 : What is I++ I++ is an initiative sponsored by Audi, BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Opel, Volkswagen, Porsche and Volvo founded 1999. I++ describes the needs of the automotive industry for new concepts including patency of the whole inspection process chain. Main topics: integration automation standardization

I++ Vision and Benefits : I++ Vision and Benefits • A common definition and a unified view on the „Dimensional Inspection Process“ for body - in - white and powertrain inspection, implemented in standardized interfaces. • Quantitative Gain • Reduction in SW and HW purchasing cost • Possible us of “Best - In - Class” products (Hard - and Software) • Reduction in programming effort and time • Reduction of expenses for porting between different types of CMM’s • Flexibility in application of workforce • Qualitative Gain • Integrated interfaces ensure the quality of the data along the p rocess, since conversion between formats is avoided • Comparability of inspection results ensured

I++ Reference Process : I++ Reference Process Design Planning Programming Analysis Executing DMS = Data Management Services DME = Dimensional Measurement Equipment

Slide5 : The group focused the last years on the I++ DME

Slide6 : Co-operation The I++ DME (Dimensional Measurement Equipment) specification was developed and realized in co-operation with famous DME manufactures, software producers, standardization institues and the I++ working group. Assignment of tasks: I++ working group Definition of the specification with object modeling NIST / AIAG Definition of test suites and acceptance criteriea, Standardization and work in committees DME manufactures/ Realization and commercialization software producer

Slide10 : Target

Slide11 : 1st Day, Presentations, Information 2nd Day, Work groups 3rd Day, Work groups and Voting Process

Slide12 : Main Results of discussion and Voting

Slide13 : 3.1.1 Resolve IP, Legal Issues 35,5 points See Legal Notes included in DME Spec 1.6 3.3.1 Extend I++ DME 30 points During IMIS meeting approach defined to define by an example project the needs for extend I++ DME for Manual Machines, Laser Trackers... , API, Wenzel... First inofficial list for add on's seen But approach to special, see “White Paper” of I++ Group (word document) See Chapter 3, Most Important Items

Slide14 : 3.2.1 Resolve I++ DME vs DMIS Part 2 issue, 16 points Activity more on DMIS-Side requested 3.4.1 Establish a formal framework, 14 points See I++ discussion forum on the net Request and answers always done Workshop again planned for Version 2.0 3.5.1 Remove the barriers for implementation pilot projects are running with Zeiss – Quindos Wenzel – Holos , DEA - Holos I++ - DME side is established Workshops for every release of the spec are made See Chapter 3, Other Items

Slide15 : Actually we begin to release DME Spec 2.0 to extend for optical probes. Everybody is invited to give his input There will be a lot of discussions with specialists Next steps

Slide16 : Thank you
