I++ describes the needs of the automotive industry for new concepts including patency of the whole inspection process chain. Main topics: integration automation standardizationI++ Vision and Benefits: I++ Vision and Benefits • A common definition and a unified view on the „Dimensional Inspection Process“ for body - in - white and powertrain inspection, implemented in standardized interfaces. • Quantitative Gain • Reduction in SW and HW purchasing cost • Possible us of “Best - In - Class” products (Hard - and Software) • Reduction in programming effort and time • Reduction of expenses for porting between different types of CMM’s • Flexibility in application of workforce • Qualitative Gain • Integrated interfaces ensure the quality of the data along the p rocess, since conversion between formats is avoided • Comparability of inspection results ensuredI++ Reference Process: I++ Reference Process Design Planning Programming Analysis Executing DMS = Data Management Services DME = Dimensional Measurement EquipmentSlide5: The group focused the last years on the I++ DMESlide6: Co-operation The I++ DME (Dimensional Measurement Equipment) specification was developed and realized in co-operation with famous DME manufactures, software producers, standardization institues and the I++ working group.
