To create four-figure grid references you use the grid lines on a map 21 22 23 24 25 26 The vertical lines on the grid are called EASTINGS and they increase in value as you move EASTwards. 39 38 35 36 37 The horizontal lines on the grid are called NORTHINGS and they increase in value as you move NORTHwards.
