Passion or Lust:

Passion or Lust

Passion or Lust:

Passion or Lust Passion refers to a strong emotion. Lust refers to unbridled sexual desire or craving. In the Bible Lust is never spoken of in a positive way.

Slide4:

God’s Moral laws are like Guard rails. They are there not to punish or deprive us, but to protect us, standing between us and destruction. 2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is …..profitable for, for correction, ……

Slide5:

How far can I go? Wrong Question. It shows your weakness. Trusting in your own flesh.

Slide6:

I think I’ll get as close to the Guard rail as possible.

Slide7:

Avoid it!:

Avoid it! 1Thes 4:3-8 (NIV) 3 It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8 Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Learning to control it:

Learning to control it Fact the facts See what God says. Understand my weakness Flee Guarding myself. Setting Safeguards Not placing myself in a position of weakness. Understanding the Consequences Understanding the Enemy Learning from my Failures Learning from the Failures of others

Training myself:

Training myself 1 Cor 9:25-27 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. 26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

Slide11:

Heb 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Good intentions will not Accomplish the Task at hand.:

Good intentions will not Accomplish the Task at hand. We have an Enemy that wants us to fail.

Slide13:

1 Pet 5:8-9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith,

WE TEND TO MEDDLE WITH SIN TO OUR OWN HURT. We don’t see it as dangerous.:

WE TEND TO MEDDLE WITH SIN TO OUR OWN HURT. We don’t see it as dangerous.

Slide15:

Sin will make Prey of those who indulge in it. Sin will deceive us into thinking there will be no price. It extracts a high price for those who want to indulge in it. It lures us with the promise of Freedom then takes us into bondage. Prov 5:22 His own iniquities entrap the wicked man, and he is caught in the cords of his sin.

Satan is looking for the perfect opportunity to tempt you.:

Satan is looking for the perfect opportunity to tempt you. Luke 4:13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time. 2 Cor 2:11 lest [he] should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his [Satan’s] devices.

What are some Opportunities Satan uses to Tempt us?:

What are some Opportunities Satan uses to Tempt us? In a time of Weakness. After a Great Disappointment. After I have been Hurt. After a Great Victory Self Confidence and Pride Aloneness. Away from other believers Getting me to focus on me. Taking in the World's Information and not God’s Word. Pleasure vs Pain- taking the easy way out. The List is endless………..

Learn form Others failures:

Learn form Others failures Prov 5:21-23 (NIV) For a man's ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all his paths. The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast. He will die for lack of discipline, led astray by his own great folly. Prov 6:32-33 (NIV) But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself. Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped away; Prov 7:21-27 (NIV) With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk. All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life. Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say. Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths. Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng. Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death.
