Welcome to our School: Welcome to our School Situated in the Buda Hills ISB caters for children from the ages of 5 to 12. The international programme is currently accredited by CIS and MSA.Philosophy: Philosophy We believe that: international education serves as a powerful means for enhancing international understanding and cooperation. we must recognise and value the diversity of backgrounds and cultures in our school community. we must address the particular individual abilities and qualities of each child in order to enable them to fulfill their full potential. children learn best in a safe, cooperative, and nurturing environment. parents and teachers are partners in their children’s education.Teaching: Teaching Small class sizes. Maximum of 14 students per class in the international programme. Experienced Teachers from Britain, USA and Canada.Curriculum Outline: Curriculum Outline Emphasis in the Early Years on Literacy, Numeracy and learning skills. Integrated topics covering a variety of curricular areas in the early years. Home Room teachers for core subjects. (Literacy, mathematics, social studies, science) Specialist teachers for music, PE and art. ICT taught in specialist classes as well as integrated into everyday classwork. Foreign languages from Grade 3 up. 3 blocks of 2 lessons per day. School day from 08-30 to 15-00 After School programmeTeaching through exploration: Teaching through exploration Grade 3 getting a greater feel for their writing and reading work. Grade 1 making and testing wheel systems as part of their transport unit.Slide7: Our curriculum: Is based on the Britsih National Curriculum with influences from the USA. Is skills based. Emphasises understanding rather than rote learning. Develops independent learning skills. Encourages analysis and synthesis of information. Is delivered through a variety of methods including group work and practical investigation.ICT: ICT Computers are used frequently to enhance the children’s learning experience. We have subscriptions to on-line learning sites from the UK. Students often research using the internet and use the computer to prepare presentaions. Through the use of the internet children can access many sites where they can listen stories and activities in English.Sharing our work with others: Sharing our work with others Regular assemblies when children share their experiences with other students and parents Work is regularly displayed on the walls and in the foyer. We also try to showcase work on our website so children form overseas can share with their relatives back home.Displays: DisplaysBilingual Programme: Bilingual Programme The school also runs a bilingual programme for Hungarians and those fluent in Hungarian. The programme consists of the full Hungarian curriculum, 6 English literacy lessons, 2 social studies/science lessons in English, 1 Music or drama lesson +I in ICT or art, each week. The English, music/drama, ICT/Art lessons + PE are combined with the international classes.A place to play in the forests.: A place to play in the forests.
