SELF- Solar Electric Light Fund:

SELF- Solar Electric Light Fund Founded in 1990 Promotes the use of solar energy in the developing world Has launched solar household lighting projects in eleven countries: China, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brazil, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa and the Solomon Islands. Through these projects, SELF has demonstrated that small, decentralized power systems can affordably bring solar light and power to rural households living outside existing power grids.

SELF- Chris’ Project (clearly the cooler choice):

SELF- Chris’ Project (clearly the cooler choice) Their mission- to connect physically remote and isolated communities to the rest of the world by providing them with solar power and wireless communications Why? SELF has a moral imperative: “Remote villages are deprived of basic energy services and communication access.” For environmental reasons To improve healthcare and well-being To provide enhanced literacy and education To empower independent economic development …it’s a freakin’ cool project!

SELF and Hilltop:

SELF and Hilltop What they want; What we’ll do. Conduct a feasibility study of developing a cause marketing strategy with various corporations (for example: energy companies, companies that have a brand or sell a specific product related to the sun or solar energy, companies interested in offsetting their carbon emissions through SELF, etc…) Develop a strategy to approach 1 to 3 different corporations (or types of corporations) that we have deemed as prospective partners through our research. This process will involve the following: -Talking to different cause marketing consulting firms about their recommendations. -Compiling a list of potential mutual benefits between SELF and prospective corporate partners. -Developing promo materials to “sell” the partnership- web and print.
