Human Resources in China:

Human Resources in China China produces yearly the world’s third largest number of science and technology graduates, after United States and Russia. In 2001, about 586,000 students were enrolled in various computer and software courses. Of this number, about 300,000 were enrolled at undergraduate level or higher. During the same year, about 32,000 students graduated from undergraduate or higher level computer or software courses. According to some experts, these numbers don’t tell the whole story because graduates may have the necessary basic skills, but there is still a lack of top level talents in China. According to Chinese software industry studies, the number of software-related staff in 2000 was about 400,000. Of this number, about 250,000 were directly engaged in software development. According to the government’s Action Plan, the number of “software talents” will be increased to 800,000 by 2005.
