Slide4: It is not about efficiency, but about being able to push it a little bit further than the last time and continue to work through issues and resolve them.

M.M. `S Theory For Designing: M.M. `S Theory For Designing The Un-private House
The Important Models
What affects his designing
Slide12: The Un-Private House examines this and other questions confronting domestic architecture at the end of the century. Changes in family structure, shifting concepts of privacy and domesticity, the home as workplace, and the revolution in communications and media have created totally new relationships between exterior and interior worlds.
The Important Models: The Important Models
What affect his designing?: What affect his designing? The people who gave him the most help in his career life is Richard Serra. What interest him is that most people looked at his work at that time are purely sculptural object, a kind of very elegant, beautiful moment that was also very aggressive at times .
However he holds a different view.
Slide15: Maybe that is the point. Using his own words, it goes
like that : What was much more interesting to me was that his work did not have so much to do with itself, but everything to do with its context. It had everything to do with the way a piece like Shift ran along on a straight line and you saw the topography of the ground moving up and down, working as a barometer to allow the viewer to understand what
was happening. You had to move around the piece and participate in it to get the sense of it. And so he did in his project to achieve this goal , just as :Tilted Arc andamp; Feldman/Horn Center F

Project: Hergott Shepard Residence, Beverly Hills Merit Award for Design Architects: Michael Maltzan Architecture, Inc., Los Angeles
Description: With dedicated collectors of late 20th century art, the house was designed to provide a supportive context for the art, while creating an aesthetic relationship. The architect designed a radical scale difference across the width of the narrow site, carefully choreographing an unfolding of spaces

The Semi-spaceThe Getty Center: The Semi-space The Getty Center The room at the Getty was all about trying to create this sense of public in a less-than-public environment
Slide30: How can we create a piece of
architecture , being all about communicating to the outside world from a cloister and the kind of conflict between those two things? Also, just the conflict between the public and the private ?Maybe this
two buildings are the answer
