Educational Measurement Monitoring and Evaluation:

Educational Measurement Monitoring and Evaluation Dr. Afshan Huma Assistant Prof. EPPSL AIOU, Islamabad

Monitoring: the systematic and routine collection of information from projects and programmes for four main purposes: To learn from experiences to improve practices and activities in the future; To have internal and external accountability of the resources used and the results obtained; To take informed decisions on the future of the initiative; To promote empowerment of beneficiaries of the initiative. Monitoring

Evaluation : assessing, as systematically and objectively as possible, a completed project or program Evaluations appraise data and information that inform strategic decisions, thus improving the project or program in the future.  Evaluations should help to draw conclusions about five main aspects of the intervention: relevance effectiveness efficiency impact sustainability The evaluation process is an analysis or interpretation of the collected data which delves deeper into the relationships between the results, the effects and the overall impact. Evaluation

M&E :

M&E is an embedded concept and constitutive part of every project or program design M&E is not an imposed control instrument by the donor or an optional accessory of any project or program Monitoring focuses on the measurement of the following aspects of an intervention: On quantity and quality of the implemented activities On processes inherent to a project or program On processes external to an intervention M&E

… refers to the process by which the attributes or dimensions of some physical object or a phenomena are determined. Such as: Room temperature Length of the jogging track Quality of Work Achievement Ability Measurement

Effectiveness, Efficiency and Equity :

Effectiveness, Efficiency and Equity

Baseline Measurement:

An accurate measurement of process functionality before any input change occurs. This allows a clear measurement of the viability of an applied improvement or solution to a known problem. The data can also be used as a standard for measuring future efficiency in the process to help identify any problem as it occurs. In other words, "The result should have been xyz but was not; therefore, there must be a problem occurring in the current system". Benefits of having a baseline are: Ability to assess further performance Earned Value Improved future estimation Baseline Measurement
