Another attempt… ... The needle has sunk. Material: A niddle -A little bit of water in a plate -A tweezers PROCESS Slide 3: It takes great patience and gentleness. 1, 2, 3… Hooray, hooray ...! The needle floats on the SKIN of water… Slide 4: TITLE THE DROPPER Experiment N°2 The surface tension, again Material: A dropper -Some water -A small vase -A little bit of talcum powder and soap PROCESS Use the dropper to put some drops of water in a small vase full of water. One drop after another and the water rises. The water surface looks like a transparent balloon. Slide 5: YOU KNOW THE SURFACE TENSION CAN BE BROKEN… Put a bit of talcum powder on the water... Look how to make a magic… then spray on a little bit of soap that brokes the tension. …first the powder floats Slide 6: Experiment N°3 TITLE THE PROPERTIES’OF WATER : The Capillarity Material Celery stalks -Some water -Small vases -Red watercolor Process Put, in a small transparent vase, few drops of red watercolor in the water. Then leave the celery stalks inside the water for few minutes and water will go up in the celery stalks. The celery stalks are colored. Slide 7: Experiment N° 4 THE PROPERTIES’OF WATER : The Capillarity Water came across. The water keeps the same level. TITLE THE COMMUNICATING VESSELS Material: A plastic transparent tube -Some water Process Put, in a plastic transparent tube some water, you can see water comes across the tube and keeps the same level. Slide 8: Add more water and you will see that water will stay at the same level. Even if we put down the tube, water keeps the same level. Slide 9: Experiment N° 5 SOLUTIONS - SUSPENSION Mix the material in the water… They are examples of SUSPENSIONS Others materials are dissolved…. these are examples of SOLUTIONS. Material: -Some transparent vases -Some water Some floor Some sand Talcum powder You can see that the material are not dissolved… Slide 10: Put some wine, cocoa, licorice, vinegar in the transparent vases… Add some water… Mix the materials with water… INTERACTIONS Material: -Some transparent vases -Some water Some wine, cocoa, licorice, vinegar Slide 11: The water becomes colored…these are examples of INTERACTION We want to taste them…. …and to sniff. Slide 12: Water, oil, alcohol and gasoline are ready to be mixed. Slide 13: The oil floats . alcohol and gasoline may be mixed Slide 14: Water and Salt can be mixed and will be a SOLUTION Slide 15: Mineral waters may contain high, medium or low salt content. The dry residue is the parameter that expresses the quantity of dissolved salts in water. To discover this dry residue we called an expert to show us how to do. AN EXPERT TO OUR SCHOOL Reading the value of the salt content in mineral water We have to read the bottle label Slide 16: the value of dry residue is very important in the mineral water This is a machine that "washes" the water. Slide 17: Look! We analyze the water samples. Slide 18: We collected the data Slide 19: EXAMPLES OF MINERAL WATER TESTED TO FIND THE SALT CONTENT LEGENDA 0,1-100mg/L Low salt content water 100- 200 mg/L Medium salt content water 200-300mg/L High salt content water 300 in poi mg/L Very High salt content water CONCLUSIONS The AMOROSA water is the most low salt content water The ULIVETO water is the Very High salt content water Slide 20: THE END Teacher: Rosalia Petrocelli Coordinator for Italy You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
