Target Audience Survey:

Target Audience Survey

PowerPoint Presentation:

I have created a survey using ‘Survey Monkey’ to ask a range of questions to various people to help me gage exactly who my target audience is and how it would be best to appeal to this target audience. I distributed it to a range of people by using this website to help get people to answer it.

PowerPoint Presentation:

As you can see here 8 out of 10 participants in this survey were female. I expected this to be the case as country music has a large female fan base. Some men do like country as shown here but compared to the female audience it is overpowered which is also what I expected to happen.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Here I have asked how old my participants are, the main bulk of participants were age 14-17 and the second largest age being 10-13. This is what I expected as younger females tend to like country stars, particularly those country stars who have become part of the ‘country-pop’ genre.

PowerPoint Presentation:

I thought it would be interesting to look at how often my participants buy country music, this could be via download or by buying it in a shop. I think its interesting that most bought a country song once a month. However this fits in to the age range as most will be in the D-E category in demographics, the fact that its once a month shows that the majority of 10-17 year olds will get pocket money which would be the reason why its once a month.

PowerPoint Presentation:

This question will help me to decide exactly what to include in my country music video and what not to include. It will help me to catch my target audiences attention by using things that they find important and interesting. I found that most people wanted a good narrative, followed by a guitar or singing moment with the star and a romance element which is a common convention many country genre music videos have, I found it interesting that the romance element only got 20% of votes as most country songs are based around romance. I will make sure to include the star singing or playing an instrument and make my narrative as interesting as possible.

PowerPoint Presentation:

I really wanted to ask people this question as it helps me gage whether people look at what the star in country is wearing like in pop, or whether they don’t look at it as much. I think this result shows me that most people aren't particularly looking at the outfits in country music but they are bothered if its fashionable or not.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Looking at what media platforms consumers use is helpful for my digipak and my magazine advertisement as it helps me know whether I should include some logos such as a ‘Facebook’ logo to interest a viewer more.

PowerPoint Presentation:

I wanted to find out what participants thought of Miranda Lambert so I knew what would be the best way to represent her in my ancillary task and my music video. I found that sweet was the most voted option with 5 out of 10, showing me that Lambert is viewed as a ‘sweetheart’ and a girly person.

Conclusion:

Conclusion Overall this survey has helped me realise exactly what things my target audience like and want in a music video, digipak and magazine advertisement. It has helped me be sure of certain ideas I have, for example how Miranda Lambert is represented. I look forward to incorporating some of these question answers into my tasks.
