DESCRIPTION:

DESCRIPTION a small tropical sea turtle with hooked jaws and overlapping horny plates on the shell, extensively hunted as the traditional source of tortoiseshell.

Adult hawksbill sea turtles are primarily found intropical coral reefs. They are usually seen resting in caves and ledges in and around these reefsthroughout the day. Cause of Being Endangered :Too many Hawksbill Turtles are captured for their shells The Hawksbill Turtle is a sea turtle that decreased in number because it was hunted for its beautiful shell. The shell is used to make high cost products, like glasses frames, combs, brooches, and guitar picks. You can find the Hawksbill Turtle's shell in many kinds of products. Japan is the biggest consumer and importer of the Hawksbill Turtle's shells. :

Aren't  the species themselves part of the environment? And that means that for every single species that goes extinct, part of the environment dies (and can never be recovered again). In addition, some species, including endangered species, are "keystone species" meaning that when they disappear, the whole ecosystem can collapse (e.g. a whole lake can become lifeless, because of a single species that disappeared from it) and the disappearance of that species can lead to a cascade of other species also going extinct . According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), “destructive human activities” have increased the rate ofspecies  extinction from 100 to 1000 times the natural rate.

STATUS:

STATUS Like many sea turtles, hawksbills are a critically endangered species due mostly to human impact. Hawksbill eggs are still eaten around the world despite the turtle’s international protected status, and they are often killed for their flesh and their stunning shells. These graceful sea turtles are also threatened by accidental capture in fishing nets .
