Slide1: What is the only Olympic winter sport that does not have a women’s event?


Women’s Ski Jumping: Nordic Ski Jumping is the last remaining Olympic winter sport that does not have a women's event. Last season women from 12 nations competed in FIS competitions throughout Europe and North America. Last season there was a U.S. athlete on the podium in 9 out of 12 FIS Ladies Continental Cup ski jumping competitions. Presently five of the top 15 jumpers in the world are WSJ USA athletes. Who we are: Who we are Women's Ski Jumping USA is a non - profit 501(c)(3) organization which promotes women’s ski jumping within the U.S. and financially supports the U.S. Women’s Ski Jumping Team. Women's Ski Jumping USA has no paid staff and is run entirely by volunteers In 2004 & 2005, Women's Ski Jumping USA expended a total of approximately $15,000 and $50,000 respectively for program costs including funding for U.S. women athletes to pay for international travel, competition, and coaching costs.


WSJ USA mission: WSJ USA mission The mission of Women’s Ski Jumping USA is to provide U.S. Women Nordic Ski Jumpers with the organizational support to train, travel and compete at the highest levels within the United States and internationally To provide funding to a Women’s Ski Jumping Team to represent the United States through a variety of means including but not limited to donations, grants, sponsors and endowments To promote the growth of Women’s Ski Jumping domestically and internationally, and to further the level of international competition up to and including the Winter Olympic Games

Organizational roles: Organizational roles The United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) is responsible for providing leadership and representing U.S. Women Ski Jumpers at the FIS Level, providing vision and strategic direction to promote the sport to the appropriate level. Women’s Ski Jumping USA assists USSA by providing organizational, funding, and team support to U.S. Women Nordic Ski Jumpers.

Our Vision: Our Vision We see women ski jumpers on the U.S. Ski Team. We see WSJ USA working closely with USSA to support Ski Team women ski jumpers with supplemental program funding where needed. We see WSJ USA working with Nordic ski clubs at the regional level to provide unprecedented access to ski jumping for young women throughout the country. We see a non-profit organization that does an extraordinary job fulfilling its mission and is embraced by community, sports leadership, and business. We see U.S. women ski jumpers on the podium at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.


Women ski jumpers are everywhere: Women ski jumpers are everywhere 2005 – FIS (International Ski Federation) Ladies Continental Cup competitions – 2 continents 18 competitions - Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Norway, & USA 2006 - FIS Ladies Continental Cup competitions – 3 continents 22 competitions - Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Norway, USA, & Japan 2006 will include the first ever women’s ski jumping event at the FIS Junior World Ski Championship at Kranj, Slovenia
