Slide 2: 

Task analysis is a process of breaking down a chained behavior (task) into a sequence of its component steps needed to accomplish the specific task.

Slide 3: 

Task analysis The Special Educator can choose to teach the skills from the beginning step and work in an ordinal fashion as the student is guided step-by-step.

Slide 4: 

Task analysis With the use of visual aids, a Special Educator can help teach each target skill from any of the broken down components which make up the hand washing task. The Special Educator can teach targeted skills from a task analysis of hand washing, as illustrated here.

Task Analysis: Hand Washing Turn on cold water faucet to the pre-marked setting Turn on hot water faucet to the pre-marked setting Wet hands with warm water Place one hand beneath soap dispenser With other hand, press the soap dispenser lever Rub palms together Rub backs of hands Rub wrists Rub in between fingers Rinse hands under running warm water Pull paper towel from dispenser Dry hands with paper towel Turn off hot water faucet Turn off cold water faucet
