Unlike many formations, which grow from loss of carbon dioxide, Popcorn grows as a product of evaporation: Popcorn (cave coral) - is a common type of cave coral. Unlike many formations, which grow from loss of carbon dioxide, Popcorn grows as a product of evaporation Bacon – walls of cave minerals: Bacon – walls of cave minerals Bacon, backlit with light: Bacon, backlit with light Slide 11: Sinkholes occur because water has dissolved out the rocks underground Sinkholes connect with the underground stream system in the area. Soil, organic debris, and pollutants move underground from sinkholes during rainstorms. These materials are transported through the underground stream system (which of course passes through caves), and finally reappear on the surface again at springs.
