Premium member Presentation Transcript Sports Communication Mentoring Program: Sports Communication Mentoring Program Student Director – Parker Jones Fall 2007 jpj35@msstate.edu Initiated by Dr. Robert Zullo Fall 2006 zullo@colled.msstate.edu Mission: Mission To provide elite undergraduate Mississippi State University students in the Sports Communication concentration the additional guidance and support from an experienced student role model in the graduate Sports Administration program to further aid in the undergraduate’s overall personal development.Goals and Objectives: Goals and Objectives To support the SPCO students in their graduate school and career pursuits in an ethical fashion To provide encouragement from peers with respect to the value of education and work experience relative to career goals To share career experiences on the peer level with respect to the importance of networking, professionalism, credentials and preparation (time management, job hunts, interviews, graduate finances, et al) relative to the competitive industryRoles & Duties of the Mentor: Roles & Duties of the Mentor Per Semester – Visit with your Mentee approximately ever two weeks to check in Suggestions include: E-mail/Phone Calls Lunch/Dinner Coffee/Soda breaks Bowling/Tennis/Recreational Activity MSU Sporting Events Career Development Events Guest SpeakersSelection Process: Selection Process Undergraduate students are selected based on academic and professional merit.
