Slide 4: Thinking allows beings to model the world and to represent it according to their objectives, plans, ends and desires… THINKING Slide 5: Type Of Thinking Critical thinking Creative thinking Convergent thinking Divergent thinking Inductive thinking Deductive thinking Slide 6: Critical thinking is, in short, self-directed, self-disciplined, self-monitored, and self-corrective thinking. Critical thinking...the awakening of the intellect to the study of itself…!!!! Critical Thinking Slide 7: It entails effective communication and problem solving abilities and a commitment to overcome our native egocentrism and sociocentrism. Slide 8: Creativity is the ability to generate innovative ideas and manifest them from thought into reality Creative Thinking Slide 9: An Attitude. Creativity is also an attitude: the ability to accept change and newness, a willingness to play with ideas and possibilities An Ability. A simple definition is that creativity is the ability to imagine or invent something new. A Process. Creative people work hard and continually to improve ideas and solutions, by making gradual alterations and refinements to their works How it Works…???? Convergent thinking is a style of thought that attempts to consider all available information and arrive at the single best possible answer. Convergent Thinking Slide 11: This type of thinking starts from a common point and moves outward into a variety of perspectives. Divergent thinking is a thought process or method used to generate creative ideas by exploring many possible solutions Divergent Thinking Slide 12: The Thinking for a Change curriculum uses as its core, a problem solving program embellished by both cognitive restructuring and social skills interventions.
