Bijapur - A Medieval City of Karnataka Bijapur , renamed as Vijapura in 2014, tells a glorious tale dating back some 600 years. Bijapur city is well known for its historical monuments of architectural importance built during the rule of the Adil Shahi dynasty. There are various places to visit in Bijapur like palaces, arches, tombs, cisterns, gateways, minarets which are a gem of art. The most famous monument in Bijapur is Gol Gumbaz, the largest dome ever built in India.
