Background: 

Background SB 281, Signed by Governor Minner May 2, 2006 Appropriated $8m to DNREC for an Energy Efficiency Program Evenly divided between residential and non-residential electric customers Encouraged a CFL give away campaign to reach all Delawareans.

Eligibility: 

Eligibility Available to Delaware residential electric customers located in Delaware. Government facilities, state, local, municipal and not-for-profit facilities are not eligible for incentives at this time. No new construction at this time. All applications are subject to a pre and post inspections for verification of eligibility.

Energy An$wers for Home Appliances: 

Energy An$wers for Home Appliances Grants to Delaware residents that retire inefficient appliances and replace with select high efficient product. Any combination of the following five products for the home up to $500 per home: ENERGY STAR Refrigerators 15 cubic feet or larger - $100 per unit ENERGY STAR Freezers - $50 per unit ENERGY STAR Washing Machines Top Loading - $50 per unit Front Loading - $100 per unit Window Air Conditioners - $25 per unit Central Air Conditioners with Programmable Thermostats (professionally sized and installed only) with minimum energy standards - $350 Electric Water Heaters - $25

Process: 

Process Qualifying customers chooses to purchase ENERGY STAR or GAMA product. Customers calls Energy Office for grant reservation number. Purchase qualified products. Complete application form and submit to Energy Office. Check or credit to electric bill will occur with in 10 weeks.

Required Documentation: 

Required Documentation Completed application form. Copy of recent electric utility bill (within last three months). Original or copy of Energy Guide with ENERGY STAR label or manufacturers product specification sheet. Copy of store sales receipt or paid itemized contractor invoice. UPC from the product box or copy of the front cover of original owners manual. Completed air conditioning sizing worksheet (Manual J or equivalent).
