Ad Hoc Group of selected experts in the various fields of exploration + broad consultation Physical sciences (esp. planetary geosciences) Life sciences Elaboration of overarching science goal Define the targets: limit to those that can ultimately be reached by humans Contrary to ESA’s mandatory programme, this one is about Human Space Flight Define a roadmap of science missions first robotic (Moon, NEOs, Mars) then human missions (Moon, Mars)Top related questions: 4 Top related questions Did life appear in a place other than Earth in the solar system? Where did the building blocks come from? Did another planet than Earth provide a habitable environment in the solar system or is the Earth the only habitable planet? Why?Goal: 5 Goal What is the European goal ? To reach a better understanding of the origin and evolution of the inner Solar System and the conditions that led to the origin of life Emergence and co-evolution of life with its planetary environment Life & life factories Planetary geosciences How will we achieve this ? Exploration of Moon, Mars and NEO by remote sensing, orbiters, planetary landers & rovers, sample returns, human operationsGoals and targets: 6 Goals and targets This could form the backbone of the science enabled by the European Exploration Programme, encompassing life planetary geosciences possibly science from the planets, e.g. astronomy from the Moon The target bodies where this science should be carried out in the timeframe up to 2030 are: Moon (robotic and human) Mars (robotic and human) Near-Earth Objects (robotic)Related critical science (&T): 7 Related critical science (&T)Athens declaration (1): Athens declaration (1) 8Athens declaration (2): Athens declaration (2) 9Mars (robotic): Mars (robotic) 10Moon (robotic): Moon (robotic) 11NEOs (robotic): NEOs (robotic) 12Moon & Mars (human)life sciences: Moon & Mars (human) life sciences 13Moon & Mars (human)geosciences: Moon & Mars (human) geosciences 14Links with ELIPS: Links with ELIPS 15In summary: In summary 16 You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
