Over the years public attention has moved further away from its roots and the state of the sea has considerably degraded. Realizing this point, the team members have decided to research the topic. It is essential to Bahrain's culture, and to the environment on a worldwide scale, to be updated with the situation of Bahrain's sea and to bear in mind the responsibility of maintaining it. Therefore, the research expanded to include two suggested solutions to improve the environmental image if Bahrain's waters: artificial reefs and underwater aquariums -the results lay between your hands!Goals: Goals Determine the extent of the effect of reclamation projects on marine life. Identify the endangered sea creatures. Create a safe environment for endangered species. Find ways to try and recreate models of the coral reefs. Research environmental friendly alternatives for tourism. Studying the possibility of creating an underwater aquarium. Attach a marine science and technology centre to the aquarium. Research new marine fun and educational family activities. 9. Create a new source for economy. 10. Create new job opportunities for specialists in the science and technology field. 11. Uphold Bahrain’s sea heritage as an island.Hypothesis (Research Question): Hypothesis (Research Question) What is the situation of Bahrain's marine life and what are possible ways for preserving it?The Importance of Preserving Marine Life: The Importance of Preserving Marine LifeThe Importance of Preserving Marine Life: The Importance of Preserving Marine Life Economic Importance B) Environmental Importance The Importance of Preserving Marine Life: The Importance of Preserving Marine Life Suggestion on how to preserve the marine life from reclamation. 1. Artificial reefs are man-made or natural objects placed in selected areas of the marine environment to provide or improve solid and rough bottom habitat and thereby increase the productivity and harvest ability of certain fish valuable to man. Artificial Reefs: 1) provide shelter, calm waters, influence water currents so that fish save energy while swimming against the current. 2) Attract smaller organisms, which are vital sources of food for different marine species. 3) They also serve as visual reference points for fish that forage away from the reef and increase the all over reef area which can host a larger number of reef fish. 4) Development of aquaculture along with the constructions of artificial reefs helps in fisheries management, to enhance the wild population in aquaculture systems. Slide19: Artisan fishermen in tropical countries have built the majority of them. The purpose of such a reef is to increase catches in local fishing grounds using simple, readily available materials like rocks, trees, bamboo, scrap tires, etc.Slide21: Reef shape and size Structures with many small holes and crevices are best for attracting invertebrates (shrimp, crab, lobster) and juvenile fishes. The local unavailability of exact coordinate point locations on Bahraini maps, which make accurate designing and such through computer programs impossible + authorization for research. 2. The lack of public awareness and positive response regarding Bahrain’s marine life. 3. The lack of alarm displayed by authorities in charge of large building projects.
