She was great women had a lot of people behind her. Slide3: Harriet was born at this house (above) in 1819 or 1820. She was brought up on this plantation. She was raised up in harsh conditions. She was beaten, and wiped quit often. At the age of 12 she was refusing to tie up a man for escaping. So a white overseer hitter hitter in the head with the whip. Slide4: In 1949, Harriet set off on her journey north. The reason she sent north was slaves on the plantation, were being sold and she was afraid that she would be one to go. Harriet started off on foot. She was helped by a very nice white women. She end up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.She found work and saved money up. Harriet was the biggest slave that they wanted to catch. She brought lots of slaves to freedom. Someone that would bring Tubman back to the owner would get 40,000. That is not the only thing thy were. The spirituals also had hidden messages in them that only the African Americans knew what they meant. Many people think of Harriet Tubman as a great hero. People thought out the U.S. new her as General Tubman, suffragist, scout, Conductor of underground railroad, warrior, abolitionist, spy, and nurse.
