THERESA ADAMS Graduated from Risley High School Received an associate’s degree from Brunswick Junior College and a bachelor’s degree from Savannah State. Participated in softball, basketball, and track in high school and college Spent 37 years as a teacher/coach at Glynn Academy As the girls varsity basketball coach, she won 637 games, winning 8 region titles and 19 sub-region titles Coached the basketball team to two Final Four appearances Led the track teams to 11 region titles, the cross country teams to 24 region titles and the girls tennis team to 1 region title Coached the boys cross country team to one region title. Won a total of 45 region titles at Glynn Academy

MILTON BYARD:

MILTON BYARD Three-sport star at Risley High School Scored 50 touchdowns in one season(state record) Scored 10 touchdowns in one game Played on three state championship teams at Risley (football, basketball, track and field) Played football and ran track at Morris Brown College All-American 1954-55 Featured in Jet Magazine in 1953 for golfing talents (cross-handed golfer) Inducted into the Morris Brown College Hall of Fame in 1980 Inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 2009

LAMAR “RACEHORSE” DAVIS Played football and basketball at Glynn Academy Received All-State honors in both sports Signed a basketball scholarship to attend the University of Georgia Invited to play in the Georgia North-South High School All-Star game Starting wingback at Georgia from 1940-42 Set a single-game pass receiving record for the Bulldogs(198 yards) Played professionally for the Baltimore Colts and the Miami Seahawks Member of the Glynn Academy Football Hall of Fame Inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1990

DAVIS LOVE III Played golf at Glynn Academy for Coach Herman Hudson Played collegiately at the University of North Carolina Earned PGA Tour card in 1985 Won first PGA tournament event in 1987 Inducted into the University of North Carolina Order of Merit in 1997 Inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in 2001 Played on the following national teams: Presidents Cup, Ryder Cup, World Cup, Walker Cup and Dunhill Cup Won the PGA championship in 1997 Won the Players championship in 1992 and 2003 Won his 20 th career PGA tour tournament in 2008 giving him a lifetime exemption Hosts the McGladry Classic, a fall PGA Tour Event In January of 2011, was named captain for the prestigious 2012 United States Ryder Cup team

SONNY MILLER:

SONNY MILLER Graduated from Glynn Academy Played football and ran track for the Red Terrors Finished second in the state 100 yard dash in 1948 Employed by the Brunswick Recreation Department from 1954-1992 Became director of the department in 1964 Influenced many of the boys and girls who came through the recreation program Had two High School Football All-Americans come through his programs Started and coached the Brunswick Optimist All-Star youth football team Started the “Optimist Youth Classic”, a home and home football series each year with the Hialeah, Florida youth football team Helped in fund-raising efforts by coaching the Brunswick Jaycees in the Marsh Bowl games The City of Brunswick dedicated the recreation building at Howard Coffin Park in his honor

GEORGE ROSE Participated in football, basketball and track and field at Glynn Academy Named All-Region, All-State and All- American in football Career total of 2,800 yards Played football for Auburn University; 1963 All-American Named Best Defensive Back in the SEC in 1964 Played in the Orange Bowl, Senior Bowl and the College All-Star games Drafted in the 3 rd round by the Minnesota Vikings and the Buffalo Bills Signed with the Vikings and earned a spot on the NFL All-Rookie team Also played with the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers Coached football at Glynn Academy and Auburn University Member of the Glynn Academy Football Hall of Fame Elected to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 2009

AARON SWINSON Played basketball at Brunswick High School Received a basketball scholarship to Auburn University Was a three-year letter winner and two-year captain for the Tigers Member of Auburn’s 1,000 point club Elected first team All-SEC in 1994 Played professional basketball for 11 years In 1994 played for the Phoenix Suns Also played professionally in the CBA, Italy, Spain, France, and Argentina Began coaching career in 2005 Has coached at the high school, college and professional level Presently serves as an assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of Cincinnati

1964 GLYNN ACADEMY FOOTBALL TEAM:

1964 GLYNN ACADEMY FOOTBALL TEAM 1964 AAA State Champions Defeated Avondale High School in the championship game with a 21-18 comeback win Glynn Academy’s only state football championship Finished season unbeaten with a record of 11-0-1 (14-14 tie against Jesup High School) Won the South Georgia championship against Columbus with an 82-yard touchdown pass with 45 seconds remaining Head Coach-Harold Henderson; Assistant Coaches-Elton Hinson, Ed Woodruff, Richard Attwood Featured in the book “The Red Terrors” written by Jesse Tullos
