Once there was a boy named Augustine who found happiness and love with God. Like you and me, he had a father named Patricius and a mother named Monica. His mother was a good Christian who found favor and peace in silence and prayer

It was Monica who taught Augustine how to pray to God. It is also from her where Augustine learned more about Jesus. :

The boy Augustine didn’t like going to school for he reasoned, “What use are the things we learn if it taught me nothing about God?” :

His dislike for school drew him more away from God. He did things that made him known as a naughty boy. For this, he got punished most of the time for the wrong things he had been doing. :

But Augustine’s patient and loving mother never gave up on him but instead prayed harder for him. She was a forgiving mother. :

At one time, Augustine becomes terribly ill. He was afraid he is going to die. He begged his mother for him to be baptized. He believes his baptism will was away the bad things in him and bring back to God. Before a priest can see him, he was healed. :
