Slide 1:

Commanding an overall 30-6 record, the Brenau University Softball t eam looks to claim the NAIA championship title. Today, the Golden Tigers face-off against Lee University in a game that might mirror the championship finals.

Slide 2:

Anna Maness is dominating this year with a commanding 16 wins under her belt while striking out 130 batters. Her right-handed curve gives hitters fits. With superb pitching from their bullpen, Brenau is favored to win the NAIA championship for years to come. Unfortunately, Maness gave up 8 runs in today’s matchup.

Slide 3:

Injury-plagued hitter, Lauren Parten , still struggles to get into the swing of things. A recurring shoulder injury keeps her sidelined in most of the games, but she hopes to make a strong presence during the NAIA tournament in late April.

Slide 4:

The girls pose while unloading their gear for tonight’s doubleheader. Brenau doesn’t have a softball field on campus, so the team makes a 15 minute commute to Lake Lanier for practices and games. Talks of building a stadium near the Amphitheater have been going on for years; hopefully it comes to fruition.

Slide 5:

Sophomore Infielder Tiffany Schandera has been the team’s leading hitter with a .482 batting average and a grand total of 55 hits on the year. She’s a pitcher’s worst nightmare, already recording 37 runs batted in. Solid hitting has been a huge reason why the young team has a commanding 14-4 conference record.

Slide 6:

Coach Thomas scored a sweet steal this season with the addition of Sophomore Pitcher Jenny Shepherd. Shepherd transferred from Northwest Florida State College a few months ago and Brenau continues to reap the rewards from acquiring her. Last month she pitched a perfect game with 9 strikeouts in Brenau’s trampling of Southern Wesleyan University.

Slide 7:

The girls take time to relax between-games during their match against Lee University. Most of the players knew each other before coming to Brenau, having played against each other in regional tournaments for years. Many believe their great chemistry is one of the main reasons behind their success.

Slide 8:

On April 30 th the Golden Tigers hope to erect another championship plaque in the Fitness Center. Most of this year’s team wasn’t here to relish the 2009 championship season and all of them want to bring the title back to Brenau University. The girls look to tweak their skills before heading to the NAIA tournament on April 27 th where the opportunity awaits them.

Slide 9:

At the end of the 2010-2011 season, the Golden Tigers will either be champs or fall short. Either way they’ll give it everything they’ve got while leaving nothing on the diamond. Champions aren’t born at Brenau University- they’re made. Hopefully the Softball Championship will ring the Golden Tiger’s bell once again.
