Initial congregation of 8 people began holding services at 127 Markham Street. 1996—Markharm Street property was purchased. 1995-1998—Congregation grew from 8 to about 40 members.Brief Synoptic History of Refuge Temple: Brief Synoptic History of Refuge Temple 1999—Prayer revival began that has added between 20-40 new members per year for the last eight years. Many souls have been baptized. Many souls have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. 2001—Markham Street location was renovated. 2004—The three E’s (Excellence, Evangelism and Expectation) are adopted. Outreach ministry to homeless Outreach ministry to VA Hospital Tutorial ministry for school aged children Evangelism expanded to radio, television and internet Recovery ministry established for separated, divorced and widowed. Expanded community services for the needy Bible Institute established Where are we now?: Where are we now? Growing congregation of 180+ Anointed ministry team of nine Working deacon board Vibrant music ministry Strong base of committed workers Over 20 different ministries serving children, youth, adults, singles, couples, seniors, college students, and the community Where are we going?Vision Statement: Where are we going? Vision Statement Refuge Temple has been called of God to become present the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Apostolic Message to the communities to which we have been called to serve. Our vision includes the development of a fully-equipped, fully functional, spirit-filled, Bible-believing Church that serves men, women, youths, seniors, couples, singles and people at every spiritual level with the intent to bringing them to a closer relationship with Jesus Chris and a new level of service to the kingdom of God. We will further address the social, physical, emotional and educational needs of those we have been called to serve. The fulfillment of this vision will be realized with the acquisition and development of the City of Refuge.The Foundation—The Three E’s: The Foundation—The Three E’s The Three 3’s are the pillars under-girding the philosophy of our ministry. Excellence—Consistently giving God and each other the absolute best. Evangelism—Reaching the lost at every opportunity. Expectation—Exhibiting faith in word and works in a manner that will bring harvest.The Vision: The Vision The City of Refuge—A multi-faceted complex that will house… A worship center that will accommodate our growing congregation. Community-based ministry Day care program After school care Tutorial services (K-College) Transitional services for those escaping addiction, poverty, abuse and other societal illsThe Plan: The Plan Continued prayer, fasting and evangelism for continued revival at Refuge Temple Development and refinement of ministries that are serving the communities surrounding Refuge Temple Capital CampaignCapital Campaign: Capital Campaign Goal--$150,000 $50,000—sacrifices from the members of Refuge Temple. $50,000—fund-raising efforts of Refuge Temple $50,000—sacrifices from the Friends of Refuge TempleFriends of Refuge Temple: Friends of Refuge Temple Pastor Davis and the Refuge Temple Family invites all of our friends to sow into the vision for the City of Refuge by becoming a Friend of Refuge Temple.
