Presented April 30, 2004 By Lori Abrahams and Sherrie Sekyra Getting Started in the Collaboratory

How we began ...:

Past Symposiums and Conference Sessions opened my eyes to the possibilities. Summer Institute gave me the initial training and support. Grant opportunity for E2T2 allowed for training of a few of my colleagues to pilot a project with my support. How we began ...

Build it and they will come!:

Looked at the standards and curriculum over the summer. Planned a project based on a new novel that integrated with Social Studies. Invited teachers to join and luckily found an enthusiastic teacher who was planning new units. Build it and they will come!

E2T2 Workshop:

D46 Administrator supported the idea to train a team of teachers with an Information Specialist to pilot using the ePortfolio in the Collaboratory. Grant paid for substitutes to attend the training and stipends for after school planning sessions. E2T2 Workshop

The First Project:

Novel study integrated with study of the Middle Ages. Collaborated my vision with the teacher’s vision. Edited project as needed. Explored the various features in the Collaboratory with the students. The First Project
