Premium member Presentation Transcript OverDrive : OverDrive An Introduction to eBooks Created by Jennifer Boyer and Guinevere Forshey, November 2011 What is OverDrive : What is OverDrive OverDrive is a database provided by the Southern Adirondack Library System (SALS) that allows you to download eBooks to a supported portable device, such as a smart phone, a tablet computer or an eReader Items checked out or reserved through Southern Adirondack Library On Demand (Salon) are viewable through Salon and not the online catalog How OverDrive works : How OverDrive works Search for, check out, and download eBook titles for either 7 or 14 days. For most devices, OverDrive utilizes Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) to manage the eBooks. The Kindle uses your existing Amazon.com account. After the loan period expires, the eBook will return to the collection automatically. You may opt to return eBooks before the loan period is over. Searching : Searching Go to http://salon.sals.edu Slide 5: Click on Login to access your account You will be prompted to enter your library card number Slide 6: Use My Account to manage your holds, your wish list, your cart and your downloads We are now ready to start searching! Slide 7: Either enter your search term here… Or use the Advanced Search Slide 8: Narrow your search by format Or by copies that are available Slide 9: …or click on any of these links Click here to browse New eBooks Slide 10: Some titles are currently checked out to other users and will require you to place a hold Slide 11: Click add to cart to begin the checkout process.
