What is Purpose of the IRC Network?: 

What is Purpose of the IRC Network? EC perceived a weakness in the exploitation of R&D USA & Japan more R&D reaches the market Better links between research centres & industry EC established a network to facilitate the transfer of innovative technology from research centres to industry This network has evolved into the Innovation Relay Centre Network

The Innovation Relay Centres: 

The Innovation Relay Centres Selected through an open call for proposals (DG Enterprise) 2 year contract 2000-2002 - extended until 2004 New call under FP6: 4 years contract (2004-08) 70 IRCs operating defined geographical areas (31 countries) 240 organisations involved IRCs hosted by Regional or National Development Agencies, Technology Transfer Centres, Universities, Chambers of Commerce etc….

IRC Network 2002- 2004: 

IRC Network 2002- 2004 Iceland with IRC Netherlands France du Nord with IRC North of England East Switzerland with IRC South Germany Malta with IRC North Rhine Westphalia IRC Luxembourg- Trier-Saarbrücken 31 countries: EU, CEEC, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Israel, Cyprus & Malta Cyprus Israel Transnational IRCs

Main Objective of the Network: 

Main Objective of the Network “Enhance European Business Competitiveness by strengthening technology and the innovation base of Europe’s SMEs” MAIN TASKS Promote the trans-national technology transfer of technologies, whatever their origin Promote the trans-national dissemination and exploitation of the results of Community research

IRC Support to Dissemination & Exploitation of RTD Results Identifications of suitable EU RTD results or projects with good RTD result potential Definition of the dissemination / implementation plan Identification of the suitable markets Promotion to the IRC network and to the clients Support in participation at brokerage events Assistance with negotiations
