I will be introducing you to the Orchestra class procedures. If you have any questions during my presentation, please raise your hand and wait to be called on.All About Me: All About Me My background I grew up in Chattanooga, TN. I attended Lookout Mountain Elementary, Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, James Madison University, and the University of Georgia My experience I’ve been teaching for 2 years. I teach orchestra and guitar. I have played viola for 12 years, violin for 7, cello for 8, and bass for 5.My Family: My Family My parents Lynn and Bill Irish My sister Julie My pet Bird, Kitty Dog, VivaldiMy Goals: My Goals To give you the academic and performance skills you need to play your instrument. To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment. To help you be the very best musician you can be!Concerts: Concerts The Concerts we will have in Orchestra will be: Solo and Duet Concert, September Halloween Concert, October Holiday Concert, December Festival Concerts, March Awards Concert, MaySolo and Duet Concert: Solo and Duet Concert We will choose pieces that are challenging and fun. Halloween Concert: Halloween Concert We will play some spooky and fun musical pieces for local elementary school students. You get to pick your costume!!! Holiday Concert: Holiday Concert We will be selecting some Holiday favorites. This is the first time the 6th grade get to perform! Festival Concert: Festival Concert We will have one at school for practice and our parents We will travel to South Cobb HS to perform for a group of judges. Awards Concert: Awards Concert This is our final concert. It is an opportunity to let everyone know what we have learned!Classroom Community: Classroom Community Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other. Our class rules are: Respect all people at all times. No Food, Drinks, Gum, Lotion or smelly items. Respect all instruments and equipment. When Ms. Irish is speaking you are listening. Always be prepared for class.Homework: Homework Practice Charts I will assign 60 minutes of practice a week. The practice chart is due every Monday signed by a parent. Reading and Writing A weekly reading and writing assignment is due every week on Monday. Tardiness: Tardiness I expect you to be inside the Orchestra class when the bell rings. We need to start class on time, because we have many things to do. You need to be in your seat, instrument out, and music in the correct order by 2 minutes after the bell.Let’s Have a Great Year!: Let’s Have a Great Year!
