Administration : 

Administration The Administration division handles all the accounting, timekeeping, budgeting, and grants for the Health Department. Also, death certificates are processed and sent to vital records in Phoenix

Environmental Health : 

Environmental Health The Environmental Health Division handles Food Safety including restaurant inspections, lake samplings, sewage systems, public accommodation inspections, public nuisances, public swimming pool inspections and manages the food handler training program

Nutrition & Health Promotion: 

Nutrition & Health Promotion WIC-Women, Infants and Children-Supplemental nutrition program providing food vouchers to qualified individuals Community Nutrition Program-Provided to area elementary schools

Nutrition & Health Promotion Tobacco Use Prevention Program PLAY-Promoting Lifetime Activity for Youth-Physical activity program for grades 4-7

Nursing Division: 

Nursing Division The Nursing Division handles communicable disease surveillance and investigation and control; TB control; Immunizations; HIV services; STD clinics; Family Planning; Newborn Intensive Care Program and Maternal Child Health program

Senior Programs: 

Senior Programs Operates Senior Centers in Kingman, BHC, LHC and Golden Shores. Hot, nutritious meals are available at all the sites along with home meal delivery and necessary transportation for the elderly or medically frail.

Bio Terrorism & Emergency Response: 

Bio Terrorism & Emergency Response The Bio Terrorism Defense and Emergency Response Division is responsible for implementing the health departments emergency operations plan along with responding to incidents of bio terrorism, infectious disease outbreaks and other public health threats and emergencies.

Bio Terrorism & Emergency Response In collaboration with the Epidemiologist, Information Technology staff and others as identified, we assure that the infectious disease surveillance system operates effectively and efficiently throughout the county on a 24-hours per day, 7 days per week basis.

Bio Terrorism & Emergency Response We are also responsible to receive and manage items from the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) and other sources, including mass distribution of antibiotics, vaccines and medical material. This includes coordinating and overseeing outbreak containment and control, and other public health response activities appropriate for disease outbreaks, major biologic events or other public health emergencies or emergency/crisis situations.

Strategic National Stockpile : 

Strategic National Stockpile Ensures the availability and rapid deployment of life-saving pharmaceuticals, antidotes, other medical supplies, and equipment necessary to counter the effects of nerve agents, biological pathogens, and chemical agents. The SNS Program stands ready for immediate deployment to any U.S. location in the event of a terrorist attack using a biological toxin or chemical agent directed against a civilian population.

Clinics/Pharmaceutical Dispensing Sites: 

Clinics/Pharmaceutical Dispensing Sites In the event of a biological terrorism attack, a medical clinic would be established to assist with vaccinations and/or antibiotic dispensing. Sites would be established in Kingman, Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City.

Operation of Clinics By the Numbers 98 total paid health department staff which means very few HD staff available for clinic duties Based on population of 170,000 Vaccinate/dispense medicines within 7 days 300 patients per hour per clinic site 240 total staff needed per 24 hour shift per clinic 720 staff needed per day in Mohave County

Public Information In an emergency, the Health Department’s Public Information Officer will handle official public information releases to the media. Health Department Staff and Volunteers will not speak directly to the media. All inquiries from the media will be referred to the Public Information Officer.

Identification All volunteers will receive identification badges that they must show if they respond to an incident of some kind. Please bring your drivers license or another form of identification when arriving at the volunteer reception area.

Family Members: 

Family Members Allowed to process (SNS/Clinic) with health department staff and public safety Family Resource Center provides short and long term assistance for social services i.e. available resources Child Care available for employees and volunteers
