Introduction :
Introduction Whenever a film starts, the audience is always shown a number of production companies that are accompanied by a famous logo, which could be identified by pretty much anyone. In order to make our production company even more professional, I thought that it would be a good idea to design an original and unique logo, corresponding to our group. So, to go about doing this, I drew some designs, which will be on a following PowerPoint, (PowerPoint ‘Finished Film Logo’), and furthermore decided that I would do some research into existing logos to see what makes them so famous and memorable, and basically work my way up from that.
Existing Logos :
Here are some famous logos: Existing Logos This is the Metro Goldwyn Mayer logo. I liked this logo as the colours are bold, but basic. The use of the animal also makes it unique and stand out. This is the Paramount logo. The way scenery is mixed with the writing provides a good balance between writing and image, making it very interesting to look at.
Existing Logos :
Existing Logos Here are some famous logos: This is the Warner Bros logo. The simple block image and colour makes this logo noticeable. Because of the very basic shapes used, it can be adapted to fit the feel of the film in which it is presenting. For example, Harry Potter. This is the DreamWorks logo. The name fits the image in which it has been paired with, thus creating a calm, dream like, illustration.
Existing Logos :
Existing Logos Here are some famous logos: This is the 20th Century Fox logo. I like this logo as its been drawn in 3D giving it depth. Bold writing is also used to make it stand out on the biggest, or smallest of screens. This is the Walt Disney logo. Walt Disney have a few different styles of the same logo, as presented above. I like both of these for different reasons; the plain 2D one for how simple it is, and the more 3D one for its colour. The 3D one to me, however, is more interesting to look at, therefore meaning I would be more likely to look at it and remember it.
Existing Logos :
Existing Logos Here are some famous logos: This is the Pixar logo. This logo uses simple shapes that are easily distinguishable. The logo is basically the company name, however, the cleaver use of the animated lamp adds creativity to the very basic in image and coloured logo. This is the Columbia logo. This stands out as a famous figure is used in this, Lady Liberty. The colours used are basic, but add life to the logo making it interesting to view.
Existing Logos :
Existing Logos Here are some famous logos: This is the Universal logo. This corresponds very well to the name of the company. The use of the Earth shows that they are ‘universal’ throughout the world. Furthermore, the bold writing and minimal colours creates a pleasant and memorable symbol/ image to look at thus making it easy to remember. This is the Lakeshore entertainment logo. The use of the monotone colour pallet keeps the picture subdued and not too in you face. The softness of the image and the action the person is doing in the picture creates a calm looking photo. The writing is separate from the image, which is interesting and different , and I basically like what is going on in this logo.
My Findings :
My Findings From looking at the different logos, I found a few similarities between them. I saw that each logo uses the production company name in it somewhere, and also uses a select few colours to make it look more interesting. Furthermore, the text shown, is in some way, bold for every individual logo. From analysing these existing company logos, I continued to add drawings to my existing ones, making them even better and more original. Bibliography
