Audience feedback

Did you understand the plot of the movie?:

Did you understand the plot of the movie? We asked this question to determine whether or not our film was easy to understand because, although it is only a trailer and should still have a slight mystery about it, the audience needs to understand the plot to want to see the film. Out of the people we asked, 100% of people understood the plot.

Can you tell which genre the movie is?:

Can you tell which genre the movie is? While the plot is an important aspect of the film, we needed to make sure we struck with the correct audience so people needed to be aware of what genre the film is People seemed to understand the general direction of the film we were going in, with all the feedback answering with an assumed ‘yes’. They thought it was of a thriller or horror genre which is accurate.

Do you think the music fits?:

Do you think the music fits? Music can make or break a film so it is crucial that the correct piece of music is used. We used two pieces of music in our movie which we decided gave the correct atmosphere for the trailer we created. All members of the audience we asked gave us a ‘yes’.

DO YOU FEEL AS THOUGH THE MISE-EN-SCENE WAS EFFECTIVE?:

DO YOU FEEL AS THOUGH THE MISE-EN-SCENE WAS EFFECTIVE? Mise -en-scene is also important to a plot, as it creates atmosphere and the signifiers can help to build character. For example, we asked ‘did the costumes and lighting help to build character’. All peers answered with yes.

DO YOU THINK MEANING WAS CREATED THROUGH EDITING?:

DO YOU THINK MEANING WAS CREATED THROUGH EDITING? Editing can help to alter a plot either for the better or the worse. We tried to show a deeper meaning through the editing by using quick jump cuts to show the confusion and intensity of Riley’s life now that he was on the run. All members of the audience we asked replied with yes.

WHICH WAS YOUR FAVOURITE PART?:

WHICH WAS YOUR FAVOURITE PART? We asked this question to find out what elements people liked the most. We had three reoccurring answers: “The hanging scene was really effective”, “The graphic shots were interesting” and “The editing – I liked the jump cuts”.

What was your least favourite part?:

What was your least favourite part? Likewise, we wanted to know which elements people liked the least. We had two reoccurring answers for this one: “The text messages – they were really cringe worthy” and “The TV Shots due to the blurriness of the screen”.
