Combating Isolation: 

Combating Isolation The Honors Program has worked diligently to integrate its students into the campus and Wilmington community Freshman Seminar Lyceum Honors Scholars Association Honors House Resident Assistants Honors House Mentors Honors Buddy Program

Honors Freshman Seminar encourages students to become integrated with both campus and community activities. Both cultural and service activities are required. Guest lecturers have included the Chancellor and directors of programs such as the Leadership, Volunteer, Technology, Media, and Career Centers. Honors 110

Lyceum: 

Lyceum Lyceum trips each fall designed to enhance cultural awareness and introduce honors students to each other and to faculty. Past trips have included Asheville, NC and Washington DC.

Honors Scholars Association: 

Honors Scholars Association Student led, social, cultural, and service organization which helps fulfill Honors Program requirements. Fall Formal and Spring Boat Cruise are examples of social activities.

Honors Scholars Association: 

Honors Scholars Association Examples of cultural activities are Wilmington Ghost Tour, Riverboat Cruise, and various plays and speeches. Service activities include Adopt a School Program, Annual Beach Sweep, SGA Halloween Carnival, etc.

The Honors House: 

The Honors House The Honors House was opened in 1998. It houses 100 students. Once one of the more isolated dorms, situated at the back of campus. Now through construction of a new resident hall, the Honors House is the future center of the campus.

RA and Mentor Cooperation: 

RA and Mentor Cooperation The purpose of Honors Mentors and RAs is to facilitate the transition from high school to college, through activities designed to introduce students to each other, the campus, and the community. There are currently two live in mentors and four RAs. In addition to sponsoring various activities, RAs and Mentors serve as advisors and counselors.

The Brand New Buddy Program : 

The Brand New Buddy Program Planning began this spring for the “Buddy Program,” an extension of the Mentor Program. Matching many returning upper classmen to groups of 4-5 incoming freshmen based on a questionnaire. Meetings will be held at the group’s discretion.
