The use of clear brine fluids is many fold thus they are used extensively in various oil and gas exploration activities. Uses of Clear Brine Fluids: Solids-free clear brines have become well-established as completion and workover fluids because of their ability to maximize formation productivity. Clear brine fluids are used as completion and workover fluids that are pure solutions consisting of salt dissolved in water. These clears brines in order to function properly must be kept stable at the surface and downhole conditions. Brine fluids are used in preparation of oil well equipment including screens liners packers etc. Selection a clear brine fluids for oil well drilling and completion operations is a very complex process. Fluids tend to react chemically with the produced gases and oil additives this causing damage to the formation in the form of corrosion or stress cracks. Besides these technical issues the world economy has also been a contributing factor in the selection of clear brine fluids for onshore and offshore oil drilling activities. Clear brine fluids are versatile in nature. The use of clear brine fluids include as a displacement fluid to discard the drilling wastage. They are also used as permanent packer fluids or drilling fluids. Proper selection of a combination of inorganic salts like calcium bromide sodium bromide zinc bromide calcium chloride etc formulates a better balance in the nearby wellbore pressures found in the oil well field.
