Independent Living and Autonomy at Home: 

Independent living implies performing Daily Living Activities (DLA) : Personal care: Waking up and going to bed, feeding, bathing, going to the toilette Home tasks: Cooking, shopping, cleaning Communication: Picking up the phone, Opening the door when the bell is ringing, etc. Entertainment: Listening to music, watching the TV Safety: Facing emergency situations Most housing is designed for young, active and mobile people Independent Living and Autonomy at Home [INE, 2000]

Personal asistance and Independent Living: 

Personal asistance and Independent Living Personal Assistance is based in services provided by persons who help people with disability to perform activities. For instance, those which can not be performed only with technological solutions
