Geographical Location:

G eographical Location Early modern humans most likely originated in northeastern Africa and over the next 50,000 years traveled further adapting to the changing global climates . After years of traveling their way through Africa to Morocco and simultaneously appearing eastward in southern Asia as well in Australia early modern humans seemed to have dispersed quite far from their origin. The last of these groups were known as the early modern humans of western Europe also referred to as the Cro-Magnon people, after their remains were discovered in France in 1868 .

Fossil Evidence:

Fossil Evidence The most well-known Cro-Magnon fossils are the half-dozen remains in Dordogne, France as well in the Grimaldi Caves, in the Italian Riviera region. The fossils date from about 30,000-25,000 yBP . Their remains suggest that the Cro-Magnons were less stressed and more capable as hunter-gatherers than their predecessors. Their fossils have been discovered along with the skeletons of big games animals such as wooly mammoths, bison, and reindeer and with that tools made from bone, antler, and ivory. This reveals that Cro-Magnon hunted game of all sizes. Cro-Magnon lived at the mother of caves where they built shelters out of skins or in huts made of sticks, saplings, stones, animal skins, or even bones. A Mammoth-bone hut dated 15,000 years old was excavated at a site in the Ukraine .

Genetic Relations:

Genetic Relations The ability to talk is one of the main attributes of the Cro-Magnon that separate them from Neanderthals and classify them as our closest ancestor. They had better-organized brains which is why they were more culturally sophisticated by the simple detail that they communicated. That is not to say that Neanderthals didn’t communicate but they had a more limited vocal apparatus much like that of an ape . Cro-Magnon were very similar in physical appearance to modern Europeans. Males stood about 5 feet 4 inches to 6 feet that was 4-12 inches taller than Neanderthals. Their skeletons and musculature were generally less that that of a Neanderthal. Cro-Magnon had broad, small faces with pointed chins and high foreheads. Their cranial capacity was up to 15950 cm3
