This festival will include films that are made in other countries. ELEVATE premiered in December 2005 at Golden Bridge Yoga Studio in Hollywood where eight original 48 hour short films were screened for 500 people. A powerful documentary about the South Central Farmers who fought to save their urban community garden succeeded to go on to several film festivals around the world. In July 2006 Elevate expanded to the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood. A music video category was added and fourteen new projects were screened for a sold out audience of 1,200. Actress Daryl Hannah, actor Derek Luke, producer Ross Grayson Bell, and Grammy award winning music producer Linda Perry participated in the festival. December 2006 ELEVATE launched live on the KTLA Morning Show. Nine projects were produced and screened at the 3,000 seat Pasadena Civic Auditorium. With the help of the ELEVATE team a talented homeless youth named Ishmael was given the opportunity to do a music video and won best musical artist. elevatefestival.com ABOUT ELEVATESlide3: Filmmakers have only 48 hours to make short films, documentaries and music videos that shatter stereotypes, unify cultures and elevate consciousness. How it works: It all begins with a nationwide search for socially relevant screenplays, documentary subjects, musicians and professional filmmakers. Though the directors are chosen prior to the festival, they have no clue as to what they will be shooting until they pull their project from a hat. Racing the clock, they charge into the jungles of guerilla filmmaking with just 48 hours to complete their assignment.
