Objectives : Objectives Identify and polish various strategies in opening and ending a talk. Objectives : Objectives Deliver a sample persuasive talk about a school program with ease for 1 – 2 minutes. Objectives : Objectives Relate to one another in the group, in English – watching over individual oral delivery difficulties such as stage frights – ahhhs… and umss. Vocabulary Enrichment : Vocabulary Enrichment “Guess the Word” Letter clues and definition will be given for you to guess the hidden word. Thank the group for the opportunity they gave you. Assess your audience : Assess your audience Compliment the person who introduced you. You may tell an event that is related to your topic, the audience or the occasion. Assess your audience : Assess your audience You can narrate a funny incident. Have the audience participate. Give a catchy quotation to arouse their interest. Closing a Talk : Closing a Talk Before leaving the stage, make the audience feel good that they came to hear your speech. Repeat your thanks for that opportunity to speak before them. Closing a Talk : Closing a Talk Say farewell in their own language. Incite the audience by acting on it, saying “Try it, you’ll not regret it.” Make the ending of every talk dramatic so that it will continue to resound. How to be at ease in public : How to be at ease in public Don’t Panic. Nervousness is natural. Look straight into their eyes. How to be at ease in public : How to be at ease in public Never apologize to the audience. Avoid the speech padding – ahhh… ummm… Group Activity : Group Activity Using the situation, select a strategy from among the techniques in starting and ending a talk. In 5 minutes, the group will come up with a short talk that will be delivered by their assigned member. The speaker has two minutes for the delivery.
